Nurture your Nature

Origin: greek; philanthropos, meaning man-loving.

Philanthropy is a combination of two words of Greek origin, 'philos', meaning 'love' in the sense of developing, caring for, nourishing, and nurturing, developing and enhancing, and 'anthropos', meaning 'human being', in the sense of our shared common humanity.

A philanthropist, therefore, is an individual whom expresses love of humanity through charitable, loving actions and wholeness in being.

Philanthropic love, much like other forms of love, consists of several key elements, which when brought to the philanthropic planning table ensure a more effective outcome:

to Eternal Truth.

The emotion

Philanthropy is an idea, event or action that is done to better humanity and is usually involving some sacrifice as opposed to being done for a benefit, profit or personal motive.

Acts of philanthropy includes donating money to charity, volunteering at a local shelter, or raising money to donate to cancer research for example.

However, Philanthropy itself must be more than large scale donations in order to truly leave a lasting impact on the welfare of humanity within the world. It is an effort an individual or organization undertakes, based on an altruistic desire to improve human welfare.

The purpose of true philanthropy is to improve the wellbeing of human-kind by preventing and solving social problems. Philanthropy and charity are not the same.

A philanthropic foundation, a nongovernmental, or nonprofit organization with assets provided by internal donors and crowd funding donations managed by its own financial officials with income expended for socially useful purposes.
